Muslim religious leaders and a number of political figures of Britain highlighted the importance of education to fight terrorism and introducing people to “Real Islam”
According to Taghrib’s reporter (TNA) in London, yesterday the “Islamic Curriculum on Peace and Counter Terrorism” conference organised by the “International Institute of MinhajUl-Quran”, took place in London.
Group of Muslim community leaders from different Islamic religions in Britain and some members of the Parliament, attended this conference, condemned terrorism. They stressed that the “true Islam” has brought the message of peace and love for all mankind and terrorist groups have nothing to do with Islam.
Baroness Seyeeda Warsi member of the House of Lords and former minister of David Cameron’s cabinet stated “ despite some people are trying to introduce Muslim community of Britain as a problem and the cause of terrorism, I have to say that in fact Muslim community is part of the solution and Muslims strongly condemn terrorism” Baroness Seyeeda Warsi added that the best way to fight with terrorism and deviant ideology is to teach the true Islam to our kids in family and the society.
Brigadier Paul Harkness, the Commander Infantry Brigade and Headquarters Scotland,by appreciating the Islamic scholars fatwa against terrorist groups said, “Islam is the religion of peace and tranquillity. The Prophet of Islam has brought the religion of peace and respect, not only for Muslims but also for the humanity.”
Harkness also noted, we need to have mutual understanding, respect each other and teach tolerance to our kids.
The Commander Infantry Brigade believes that joining of some young people to Jihadi groups is not acceptable for God. Because there is no religion in the world that accepts violence and death.
Khalid Mahmood, one of the Muslim Member of Parliament for Birmingham stated, “ today is an important opportunity to take the responsibility of teaching others. We must start this with ourselves, our homes, then take it to schools, mosques and teach everyone what Islam is about”
Zain-al-Aqtab Siddiqi head of “Hijaz Islamic college” also said “my main question is that what ISIS says is really an ideology? Can this barbarism, which kills people be called ideology?” He then continued, “If everyone participate in this programme which is the understanding of the truth about religion, I can say that it will immunize the society against extremism”
Shaykh Muhammad Saeed Bahmanpour from the Islamic Centre of England also noted that Muslims did not create terrorism and the Western policies, particularly George Bush policies led to creation of terrorist groups.
Bahmanpour believes that wrong decisions and policies of Western governments towards the Middle East and Palestine is the main cause of terrorism.
Shaykh Bahmanpour stated, “ of course we accept that the wrong understanding of religion is attracting youngsters to terrorist groups, but wrong policies of the Western governments and the injustice in our society are the main reasons”.
