Intensification of Saudi invasion on Yemen as cover up for failures

Senior Middle East expert highlighted wide failures of Saudi Arabia as a reason behind intensification of atrocities against Yemeni civilians calling formation of supreme political council as a prelude to other political issues including election, formation of a transitional government and also launching national unity government.
Intensification of Saudi invasion on Yemen as cover up for failures
Rouhollah Ghassemian, senior expert on Middle East issues, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) detailed his views on Yemen changes and reasons for intensification of Saudi atrocities on the Arab state.

Q: What are the reasons behind widening of the Saudi strikes on Yemen?

A:
Saudi Arabia, during the past months, has faced massive failures in its foreign diplomacy and also its intrusion into regional countries, for instance, it has spent huge expenses in Yemen, Syria and other fronts and has involved means like Takfiri groups with full supports though it has not made it to stabilize its position neither in air nor on the ground or even dominate smaller parts in any of the aforesaid countries.

Hence, it is quite natural that that in a move to promote and also in a bid to deviate the public minds, it takes measures like intensification of its invasions on Yemen.

On the other hand, international organizations and law organizations like Human Rights Commission and child rights conventions have lodged complaints against Al Saud crimes in Yemen which has been quite costly for Saudi Arabia. For instance Ban Ki Moon’s view regarding Saudi crimes and infanticide in Yemen which later changed turned out costly for the Arab kingdom.

Al Saud regime has been introduced as a criminal and infanticide regime in Yemen and that is the reason for Saudi Arabia to intensify its strikes on the war-stricken country every now and then.

Q: What approach has Ansarullah and Yemeni nation taken against Saudi strikes and in what direction is the war moving?

A: Following its failures Saudi Arabia entered a direct negotiation with Ansarullah with the mediation of third countries with Kuwait talks as the last instance of these efforts. Saudis tried to save themselves from the quagmire through Kuwait talks but Ansarullah and Yemeni revolutionary movements did not accept Saudi conditions under any circumstances and stressed their demands on withdrawal of the forces and Saudi mercenaries from Yemen, formation of national unity government- a government elected by Yemeni forces.

Yemeni committees also mightily announced that if Saudi Arabia leaves the talks with failure, they will respond to any invasion which might be made by Saudi Arabia; therefore, they are widely supported by the people, formation of national political council of Yemen and participation of millions of Yemeni people in support of the popular committees is a proof for that.

Recently published images show revolutionary forces making advancements in Saudi soil, warned and have chosen regions like Jizan for responses and their anti-ballistic missiles have targeted Saudi forces’ positions as Yemeni revolutionary forces seem to be continuing with the same approach.

Q: What advancements have been made in formation of Yemen supreme political council and to what extent can we be hopeful that the formation of this council ends in a democratic and determined government?

A: Formation of this council was a stabilization process for stances taken by popular committees or in fact it was a blow to foreign mercenaries who have been at war since two years ago.

Formation of political and then legal council was a global announcement that Yemeni nation are stressing the formation of a government and that all Saudi efforts in the past two years have been ignored and the stance pursued by Saudi Arabia to elect Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi as the president and enter Yemen under the pretext of changing the government has failed.

At present the political process in Yemen, similar to that of Syria where everyone is speaking of national solidarity and stabilization of Bashar al Assad, in Yemen also the least advantage of this political measure was that we have to witness political process for the country; political negotiations should be held in a wider range and also Yemeni popular forces have mightily announced that Yemen’s process is a political one which should be merely determined by the nation.

Undoubtedly, formation of the supreme political council of Yemen is a prelude for other issues like elections, formation of a transitional government and also formation of national unity government.

Q: What process will the political and military changes in Yemen take and what are the UN responsibilities in regards to that?

A: If the UN intends to take fruitful measures, it should follow some steps, first the UNSC should immediately stop invasions on Yemen, second it should support Yemen-Yemen talks and third it should support the political process when Yemeni nation is the main decision maker.

In other words, the UN should end foreign intervention in Yemen, which does not seem possible because the UN secretary general changes its stance with a few Saudi dollars withdrawing from its recognition of Saudi Arabia as criminal and infanticide regime.
