Leader’s visit with Putin shows Iran’s strategic position
Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari has said that Ayatollah Khamenei’s meeting with Russian President Putin demonstrates the greatness and depth of Iran’s strategic position in the international arena.

Speaking Tuesday at a policy meeting commemorating the victory of Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Mohsen Mojtahed-Shabestari said that the meeting between Supreme Leader of Iran’s Islamic Revolution with Russian President, Vladimir Putin, on Monday showed the depth of grandeur and Iran’s strategic position in the international arena.
In a meeting with Putin in Tehran, Ayatollah Khamenei warned against United States' "long-term plot to take control of the whole of West Asia," saying, “This plot is a threat to all nations and countries, particularly Russia and Iran.”
His Eminence referred to the Iran’s 2009 post-election riots and that the events which occurred on December 30, 2009 known in Iran as the “9th of Dey Epic,” saying that the events of December 30th were the “final word” in the enemies’ plots to overthrow the Islamic Revolution and restored tranquility to the Islamic Republic of Iran.
The representative of the Supreme Leader in East Azerbaijan province said that during the celebration of the Islamic Revolution and the commemoration of the events of December 30th, we renew our covenant to the ideals of the Islamic Revolution and express our thankfulness for God’s blessings, adding: “In reality, the commemoration of the events of December 30th indicates the life of the Islamic Revolution and its lofty ideals.”
Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari stating that thankfulness for the blessings of God is emphasized in the Holy Quran and in the narrations of the Imams, adding that the greatest blessing is the blessing of independence and freedom as there was a time when Iran was in the hands of American advisors and had no freedom.
The chairman of the Supreme Council of the Ahl al-Bayt World Assembly stated that the massive presence of people in celebration of the anniversary of the Islamic Revolution and the events of December 30th indicates the Iranian peoples’ strong attachment to the Islamic system and Revolution. “For this reason, we can say that the majority of the people support the system and the values of the Revolution,” he said.
Ayatollah Mojtahed-Shabestari explained that after the June 2009 presidential elections, Iran faced eight months of chaos and sedition, but due to the Iranian people’s wisdom and recognition of the enemies’ plots, they were able to overcome the invalid line of those who were seeking to overthrow their country’s Islamic system and once again, the enemies were frustrated by the unity of Iranian people.
In conclusion, he referred to Iran’s February 2016 parliamentary elections, saying these elections will demonstrate Iran’s religious democracy and sovereignty. “In reality, the elections will demonstrate the power of Iran and its Islamic system of governance against the global arrogance and greed of the ‘Great Satan.’ These elections will also be held with the utmost glory,” he said.
