Senior Iranian Cleric, Lebanese Parliament Speaker Confer on Regional Developments

"We discussed issues related to the regional developments and our meeting was very useful," Akhtari said after the meeting.

He expressed the hope that the Lebanese government, nation and parliament would take steps in line with the country's developments.

On Thursday, Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham reiterated her country's support for the Lebanese people and army in fighting terrorist groups, and said Tehran is waiting for Beirut's response to send its military gift to the Arab country.

Iran is still waiting for a response from Lebanon to dispatch military aid for the Lebanese army in its fight against Takfiri terrorists, Afkham told al-Ahd network affiliated to Lebanon's Hezbollah on Thursday.

The Lebanese army is on the frontline of war on terrorism, she added.

"When provided with sufficient equipment, the Lebanese army will be able to effectively fight the terrorists," Afkham said.

She termed a visit to Tehran by Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Moqbel a positive step, and said during his visit good talks were held on military cooperation between Iran and Lebanon.

Afkham reiterated Tehran's support for the people and army of Lebanon in their fight against terrorism.
