Clashes have erupted in the Jordanian city of Ma’an between protesters and security forces following the death of a young citizen during security operations.
Clashes erupt in Jordanian city after death of youth

The clashes broke out on Wednesday after demonstrators in the city, 218 kilometers southwest of the capital, Amman, launched a campaign of civil disobedience to protest the death of a fellow citizen by security forces.

The enraged demonstrators ignited fires in a number of public buildings, including financial institutions, and closed off city entrances.

The development came a day after Jordanian security forces carried out a raid in Ma’an to search for what they have described as wanted individuals, without providing further explanations about the search.

During the police raid, the young man was killed and five security forces were injured.
