Imperialism, Ignorance, Behind Many Shia-Sunni Disputes

The root causes of many of the differences and clashes between Shias and Sunnis are imperialist and hegemonic powers on the one hand and ignorance on the other.
Imperialism, Ignorance, Behind Many Shia-Sunni Disputes

This is according to prominent Tunisian scholar and researcher Hussein Qassim who told IQNA that the hegemonic powers make every attempt to create rift among Muslims.

He highlighted the important role of the Muslim world media to expose the enemies’ plots against the Muslim Ummah.

Qassim further said many Muslims have little knowledge of the teachings of other Islamic schools of thought and that leads to misunderstandings and clashes.

He said Muslims sometimes close their eyes to the many common grounds such as the Holy Quran, the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Qibla (direction to Makkah), etc, and instead focus on the few differences, which leads to discord and disunity.
The Tunisian scholar underlined that there is no justification for disunity in the Muslim Ummah and that Muslims should not be influenced by the propaganda and false claims of the enemies and their mercenaries.

“The Islamic Ummah, especially the youth, need to try and learn about one another’s beliefs and ideas in order to avoid discord,” he went on to say.
He also highlighted the responsibility of Muslim scholars and thinkers to promote the sublime teachings of Islam about moderation, reciprocal respect, interaction and avoiding violence.

“What we see in the Muslim world today in terms of killings and violence and Fitna (sedition) have nothing to do with Islam and its teachings but stem from ignorance, deviation and the conspiracies of the world arrogance,” Hussein Qassim underscored.
