In his trip Syria, the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki visited Higher Education Center of Sheikh Kaftarou in Damascus, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

"Higher Educational Center of Sheikh Kaftarou has been of major center for Islamic unity in Syria to date," highlighted the president of Iran top unity body, hailing the founder of center, Sheikh Salah Kaftarou.

"Former Syrian scholar Sheikh Salah Kaftarou was of the prominent faces of rapprochement in Syria and in the World of Islam, serving well for preserving Islamic Ummah unity," pointed out the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought.

Ayatollah Araki beckoned to some of programs advanced by the World Forum stressing, "the unity body along with its usual activities for boosting rapprochement among Muslim nations, held a series of proximity related meetings with clerics and religious thinkers from Mauritania, Indonesia, India, and Iran in attendance."

President of Iran unity center and his accompanied delegation visited different parts of the Higher Education Center of Sheikh Kaftarou.

Ayatollah Araki in his excursion to Syria also visited Syrian officials and religious cleric including Sheikh Badreddin Hasoun, the Grand Mufti of the country, and Syrian Foreign Minister Walid al-Muallem.

In the meetings, the religious clerics exchanged their lines and views over recent changes in the country, standing threats facing Syria and ways for a better tie with Muslims nations in the region.
