Religious figures discuss Muslim world issues in five commissions
Second day of the 31st Islamic Unity Conference is being held with Muslim intellectuals and experts attending different commissions.

Commission on 'Salient Characteristics of a New Islamic Civilization and Its Differences form the West' chaired by Davood Ameri drew on the differences between Islamic and western civilization and stressed importance of achieved humanitarian factors and developments.
He noted that while An Islamic civilization is on monotheistic principles, western civilization rejects monotheism, resurrection and morality, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
Mohammad Mahdi Zahedi, Former Ministry of Science and Technology chairman of commission on "Role of Self-Belief and Unity Amongst Muslims in Developing an Islamic Civilization" hailed the recent achievements of the resistance forces in Syria and Iraq and said," These are not merely geographical and territorial victories but a victory over dictatorship and international Zionism symbolizing a proper military cooperation in the world of Islam."
He hailed the capability of Muslim world to turn into a superpower in science, technology and culture and added," In order to reach the proper position of Islamic civilization, we should make collective effort to build self-belief and reach unity in an ideology, objective and a roadmap for the whole world of Islam."
Former minister of science and technology hailed Iran's struggle to hold the annual Islamic Unity Conference, launching different unions, prizing Al-Mustafa award and also foundation of the University of Religions and Islamic Denominations calling for Muslim world support for Iran.
Participants to the commission on 'Status of the Islamic World and Solutions to Strengthen the Notion of an Islamic Civilization' directed by Abu Abdullah Ghulam Allah, former minister of Religious Affairs and Endowment, detailed the cultural features for materialization of modern Islamic civilization.
He stressed necessity of cultural and religious cooperation between Muslim countries and warned," The more distance from wisdom the more vulnerable we will be."
Iran's Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Ali Mirzaee, research deputy of al-Mustafa International University urged for more study into challenges and crises calling that as the prerequisite for steps towards realization of modern Islamic civilization.
Still in the committee on "Roadmap for Reviving an Islamic Civilization" led by Hujjat-ul-Islam Muballeghi, member of Clerical Assembly of the Supreme Leader, noted that all activities by Muftis, intellectuals, politicians, leaders, professors, economic elites and religious scholars should be within the framework of culture and Islamic civilization.
Kazim Meghdadi, prominent Iraqi scholar in the committee hailed the late founder of Islamic Revolution, Imam Khomeini (RA) for breaking the country free of arrogant powers' dominance calling the late leader as symbol of uprising in Iran.
Hujjat-ul-Islam Taqawi, chairman of the "Good Office" Committee reiterated the importance of good office as the key mission of Muslims to solve the issues of people in Myanmar, Syria, Iraq and Bahrain.
"We should struggle to solve the issues imposed on the Islamic society and foil the hostile plots as a unified Islamic movement" he said and expressed regret over the current situation where enemies have shrewdly raised Muslims against each other.
31st Islamic Unity Conference is underway in Tehran to discuss the theme of "Unity and requirements of Modern Islamic Civilization" on 5-7 December.
Islamic Unity Conference is held concurrent with birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) dubbed as "Islamic Unity Week" initiated by the late Imam Khomeini (RA).
