President welcomes setting up national database

President Hassan Rouhani said on Saturday that national database can account for the country's independence, calling on Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to set up national database independent of reliance on foreign technology.

The President made the remarks in a meeting of the Cyberspace High Council advising the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology to clear Iranian national database dependence on foreign partners and said that Iran possesses the technology to set up national database independent of foreign networks.

The President said that the Cyberspace High Council approved a decision to that effect at early days of the work of the 11th government.

The President recalled the guidelines of the Supreme Leader about setting up the national database independent of foreign links.

President Rouhani said if the people feel that they are availed with national, reliable, durable, qualitative, safe and easy access database, they will assume more effective role in development of the country.

He thanked Ministry of Intelligence, the National Cyberspace Center and all officials for designing and implementing the first phase of the national database.
