Ayatollah Araki hails Iraq victory in Fallujah

Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollah Mohsen Araki has hailed the victory of the Iraqi troops against Daesh Takfiris in liberating the strategic western city of Fallujah from the grips of the terrorist group, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

In a congratulatory message to Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi and the nation of this country, Ayatollah Araki expressed hope that national unity among Iraqi people and all political groups and factions would lead to the ultimate defeat of the nation’s enemies.

"The gained victory will make the nation of Iraq a model for others," read the message stressing the history would never forget Iraq's bravery in these battles.

The grand Ayatollah hoped that total security and welfare would be established in a united and consolidated Iraq.

Iraqi forces launched a massive military operation to take back Fallujah on May 23. During the offensive, Daesh resorted to hostage taking among the trapped civilians, using them as human shields to slow down the army advances.

On Friday, Iraqi forces managed to raise their national flag on the main government complex in Fallujah as they faced little resistance from the Daesh terrorists, who had lost their defenses there in the course of the weeks-long offensive.
