Deputy of Romania Orthodox bishop met with Iranian cleric saying that whenever there has been cooperation between religious leaders, extremism has been prevented.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mostafa Husseini Neishabouri, manager of Iran’s Imam Reza (AS) Seminary, met with Varlaam of Ploieşti, Assistant Bishop to the Romanian Orthodox Church, stressing cooperation of Iran and Romania religious centers saying that holding interfaith meetings between the countries will be a landmark in the religious ties between Tehran and Bucharest, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to etymology of the word “Islam” and stressed the pacifist nature of Islam as well as the friendly message of both Islam and Christianity.
 
Iranian cleric slammed extremism as the reason for turning different spots of the world into battle ground and stressed dialogue among religious leaders as a positive step for better understanding and cooperation and stressed,” If there is no cooperation and peace among religions then peace will never prevail ties between nations either.”
 
Research deputy of Qur’an Foundation added, “When we discuss interfaith dialogue, we notice several similarities between Islam and Christianity because there are several common values between both religions including belief in human rights which is a constructive element of the human society.”
 
According to the Iranian cleric respect, peace, love and coexistence are the demands of present society which were all among the message of all prophets.
 
Varlaam Ploieşti expressed hope that the religious centers in Iran and Romania can play better roles in dialogue between religions.
 
He expressed regret over expansion of extremism and violence across the globe calling that a historical exam for religious leaders.
 
Romanian deputy stressed the ideological similarities between Islam and Christianity which can form the basis for an intellectual dialogue between two religions in cultural, political and religious fields highlighting belief in God Almighty as the common basis between both religions.
