Followers of Ahlul Bayt (AS) not in pursuit of desecration

Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hassan Nabavi, Deputy of Promotion and Education at Qom Seminary, issued a letter to the grand Sheikh of Al Azhar demanding for more attention on the issues related to disagreements between Shia and Sunni, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Iranian cleric in this letter called Al Azhar grand mufti as a pioneer of Islamic proximity praising the high status of the Sunni cleric not only among Sunni Muslims but also among Shia communities.

"Many prominent Shia clerics recognize you as a true follower of unity and a moderate Islamic scholar while some has misused your words to be in contrast with you general views on Islamic unity." wrote Huajjat-ul-Islam Nabavi in part of his letter.

He also referred to a recent televised interview with Al Azhar Sheikh and said," Your interview aired during the month of Ramadan in regards to the disagreements between Shia and Sunni which have sounded weird to pro-unity figures."

Iranian cleric noted," You are quite aware that there is no space for desecrating moves among Shia and if a specific person or group does so then he is not known as a true follower of Ahlul Bayt (AS)."

According to the scholar a Shia is taught by Imam Ali (AS), first Shia Imam, to avoid disrespecting his religious brother be it another Muslim in his opposite front.

Deputy of Qom Seminary also referred to the renowned fatwa issued by the Supreme Leader banning any sacrilegious statement about the household of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) as a proof for the importance of the attention and respect for followers of other Islamic denominations among Shia community.

He touched upon the Shia view on companions of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) saying that," In view of Shia most of the companions of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) are just and true believers while some others are not but in any case Shia rejects disrespecting sanctities of other religions or Islamic denominations."

According to the Shia cleric this view of the Shia leaders must be clarified from the extremist ideologies.
