Terrorism, outcome of misusing Sunni scholars’ positions

Al Azhar grand sheikh slammed growing number of fake scholars and issuing vain fatwas (religious statements) saying that terrorism is the result of some Sunni scholars’ misusing their positions.

Ahmad al Tayyeb, top sheikh of Al Azhar University, met with head of Chechen Republic, Ramzan Kadyrov expressing regret over some people’s misusing their position as a Sunni scholar, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Ahmad al Tayyeb said,” Unfortunately some people cover in Sunni cloak and turban but do not obey the principles in issuing fatwas and promote Islam.”
 
He added,” These fake scholars suppose themselves as representatives of the Sunni community while their misusing the position of a Sunni cleric has led to birth of terrorism and bloodshed of innocent people.”
 
Al Azhar grand Mufti also denounced Takfiri terrorist movement of Daesh and stressed,” Sunni Islam has constantly refused massacre of the civilians and baseless excommunication of the people.”
 
He reiterated necessity of vigilance of the youths against Daesh terrorist group and noted,” Daesh is in pursuit of trapping the youths through different methods.”
 
He called for expansion of moderation in Islam and added,” To reform the educational system of Islamic sciences is a necessity which will prevent deviate thoughts and extremism.”
