Mosques are pivot in Islamic society: Ayatollah Araki

The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thoughts placed emphasis on high status of Mosques and detailed his views on the their elevated social role played by these holy places in guiding people stressing, "Mosques form the bedrocks of Islamic society," reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

"Counting Mosques just as a place for holding prayer and carrying out religious rituals or obligations is absolutely wrong," highlighted the President of Iran top Unity center detailing his views in an exclusive interview with research center of Serate Mobin over the place and social role of Mosques across the World.

Ayatollah Araki Quoted holy book of Quran saying, "Those of people shutting Mosques are by far the most oppressed people." The grand Ayatollah demanded Muslims to be aware of Islamic teachings and the telling role of Mosques in Islam which is crucial and goes beyond the spiritual aspects.

According to the Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thoughts, all major political, social and cultural issues of Muslims should be brought up and discussed in mosques.

The structure of the mosques and the presence of worthy clerics in them are of outmost importance. Despite the existence of thousands of mosques across the country, there is still room for thousands more in villages, cities, and residential complexes.

To Ayatollah Araki, religious thinkers and clerics, easy access to mosques is a pressing necessity for the faithful, our youth and teenagers which in turn lay the way for the young generation to get familiar with Islamic teachings, ordinances and codes of ethics.

The grand Ayatollah urged Muslims to use the golden chance the mosques provide them with enlarging on his line by referring to Holy Quran saying, "Indeed the first house that was appointed as a place of worship for mankind, is the one at Mecca (the Holy Ka'aba), blessed as a guidance to the whole world" (3:96).

The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thoughts Quoted another verse in which God Almighty emphasized the pivotal role of Mosques so as to draw attention to this holy place, saying, "And remember when we showed Ibrahim the right place of the Sacred House (mosque) and commanded that, "Do not ascribe anything as a partner to Me, and keep My House clean for those who encircle it and those who stay in it (for worship) and those who bow and prostrate."

In Islamic thought and ideology, mosques are a symbol of the coalescence of this world and the other, and unite the individual with society. Given that Ayatollah Mohsen Araki underscored," it is incumbent upon each one of us to revive the Mosques."

The Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thoughts beckoned to religious teachings and instructions in which Mosques are held as the houses of God and heart of Muslims’ societies highlighting these places can provide Muslims with safe place for promoting peace and security in the society.

According to Ayatollah Araki in different parts of holy Quran, God Almighty centers the verses around these holy places in order to show the hows of returning to the right path.

Of those the grand Ayatollah chose another verse saying, "And the people of Paradise said to the people hell, "We have surely received what our Lord had truly promised us – so have you also received what your Lord had truly promised?" They said, "Yes"; and an announcer between them proclaimed, "The curse of Allah is upon the unjust."

The first mosque in the world is often considered to be the area around the Ka'aba in Mecca now known as the Masjid al-Haram. Since as early as 638 AD, the Masjid al-Haram has been expanded on several occasions to accommodate the increasing number of Muslims who either live in the area or make the annual pilgrimage known as hajj to the city.

Of course, to Ayatollah Mohsen Araki the Masjid al-Ḥarām (also called the Sacred Mosque, the Grand Mosque or Great Mosque of Mecca) was in the wrong hands and the Mosque trustees were incompetent.

It is noteworthy that some people regard the first mosque in history to be the Quba Mosque in present-day Medina since it was the first structure built by Muhammad Prophet (PBUH) upon his emigration from Mecca in 622.
