The soldier was killed late on Tuesday night during fierce clashes between Yemen's Ansarullah fighters backed by allied army units and Saudi forces in the province, Yemen's al-Masirah TV reported.

The fighting erupted as Riyadh continues to amass its tanks and military vehicles in the war-torn country.

Long columns of M1 Abrams battle tanks were seen rolling out of the port city of Aden northward to the al-Anad airbase base in Yemen’s southwestern Lahij province.

The base has been the scene of intense fighting between remnants of the former regime and Yemen’s Ansarullah fighters and allied army forces. Earlier, Saudi bombers carried out 25 raids on the airbase.

Meanwhile, Saudi fighter jets targeted the Hidan and Sahar districts of Yemen's northwestern province of Sa'ada.

Yemeni forces stormed the Saudi military base of Makhroq after hitting it with artillery fire in retaliation for the Saudi onslaught against the country.

The Al Saud regime has launched its military aggression against Yemen since March 26 – without a UN mandate – in a bid to undermine the Houthi Ansarullah movement and restore power to the fugitive former president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a staunch ally of Riyadh.

According to UN figures, the Saudi war has killed over 4,000 people since late March. However, local sources have given a much higher death toll.
