Brutal "Israeli" Assaults on Palestinians

TNA - Beirut
"Israeli" forces detained a 19-year-old Palestinian girl as she returned through an "Israeli" military checkpoint to the northern West Bank city of Qalqiliya on Tuesday afternoon, her family told Ma'an.

Maha Ghazi Barham, from Kafr Qaddum village east of Qalqiliya, was travelling back after visiting her brother in "Israeli" jail, relatives said.

Her parents called on the ministry of prisoners and human rights groups to investigate her seizure and demand her immediate release.

An "Israeli" military spokeswoman said she was not familiar with the incident.

In a related context, "Israeli" gunboats on Wednesday opened fire at fishermen off the coast of southern Gaza, witnesses said. Meanwhile, Israeli tanks entered the Gaza Strip through the Kisufim gate near Khan Younis and opened fire as bulldozers razed farmland in the area.

In parallel, Two Palestinian-owned vehicles were torched in East Quds early Wednesday morning.

"Israeli" police spokesman Micky Rosenfeld told Ma'an that "price tag" and "revenge" were sprayed near the burnt out vehicles in Sharafat, a Palestinian village near Gilo settlement.

The term "price tag" is used by Jewish settlers to describe a policy to attack Palestinians and their property in retaliation for perceived anti-settler actions by the Israeli government.

Attacks are usually carried out in West Bank villages, but the torching Wednesday is the second incident in Quds in recent weeks.

In December, Jewish extremists torched a mosque in Jerusalem and sprayed the Star of David, "price tag," and "A good Arab is a dead Arab" in Hebrew on the ancient building's walls.
