This year, the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought once again gathered religious thinkers and elites across the globe together so as to approach the standing setbacks Muslims nations are mired in.

The event marked the anniversary birthday of God’s final messenger, the Great Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), placing much more stress on the prime importance of unity and solidarity among Muslims and providing them with proper ground to put concentrated effort to brave the existing setbacks and revive Islamic.

The 31st edition of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought one more time gave voice to top clerics to offer the true image of divine religion of Islam obscured by western propaganda.

The event on the theme of "Unity and Requirements of Modern Islamic Civilization" was a golden chance for thinkers, senior officials and well-known faces to review and come up with efficient roadmaps to mend relation among Muslim nations.

The opening ceremony of the Conference was held with Iran President, Hasan Rouhani in attendance. During the event, President Rouhani urged Muslim nations to stand against their enemies with high morale. To Rouhani, Shia and Sunni Muslims share many takes and thoughts and are brothers in faith; they follow the same holy book of Qur'an and traditions of prophet Muhammad.  

Rouhani blasted certain regional and Muslim countries for setting aside their shame and disclosing their relations with the occupying regime of Israel. "Some regional states and Muslim countries shamelessly confirm their close ties with Israel, describing it as a “bitter” development facing the Islamic world today," Rouhani said.

Elsewhere in his address, the Iranian chief executive highlighted the latest gains made by the Syrian and Iraqi armies on the battlefield against terrorists. He said that the 2016 Islamic Unity Conference coincided with the liberation of the Syrian city of Aleppo, and similarly this year’s event comes on the heels of the end of Daesh’s territorial rule in Iraq and Syria.

His speech followed by the recitation of a message penned by Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi. The grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi always urges Shia and Sunni scholars to review the obstacles casting a shadow over securing Islamic solidarity so as to set forth the most significant, necessary measures for reinforcing Islamic unity.

Thereafter reading the letter, Secretary General of the World Forum for Proximity of the Islamic Schools of Thought, Ayatollagh Mohsen Araki congratulated Muslim nations on the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Imam Sadeq (PBUH).
 
President of Iran top unity body touched upon the objectives on which the Islamic unity conference is centered noting strategies for implementing modern Islamic civilization are to be discussed and reviewed; to this very end, Ayatollah Araki demanded as well the attendees of the event to offer their proposals for sorting out the current setbacks.

Needless to say, President of Iran top unity center believes enemies attempt for controlling Muslim nations will be in vail, if Muslims get truly united. He demands Muslims to be bound by vows of resistance against their common enemies who longs for a monopoly of the world of Islam.

Another key speaker giving speech at the opening ceremony of the 31st Islamic Unity Conference was Faiz Mohammad Uthmani, Afghan minister of Hajj and endowments. Uthmani hailed achievements gained by forces against terrorist groups, and demanded Islamic countries not to lay the fertile ground for terrorist groups to project a fake image of divine Islam
 
Along with Faiz Mohammad Uthmani, Syria's grand Mufti, Sheikh Badreddin Hassoun also have his comments and briefed on unity related programs in some Muslims countries noting for forwarding the set objectives, "the Assembly of the Union of Islamic scholars is to be established in Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan and Syria."

He also hailed triumphs made in Syria and Iraq against extremist group of DAESH. "The military conflict in Syria has now come to an end, but we must continue the cultural and civil war against our enemies,” pointed out the religious cleric noting Muslim nations are shouldered with a heavy duty and must be more vigilant.

Minister of Hajj and Religious Affairs, Faiz Muhammad Usmani along with Grand Syrian Mufti Sheikh Badr al-Din Hasun and Deputy Secretary of Hezbollah, Hojjatol Islam Sheikh Naeem Qasim along with other featured faces delivered speech in the first day of the Islamic Unity Conference.

The Islamic unity conference in its second day held commissions on unity related issues. Five commissions concerned the theme of the conference which is "Unity and Requirements of Modern Islamic Civilization", and three other commissions were centered on the exclusive programs and activities have been advanced to date by the World Forum."

Needless to say, all these commission provided thinkers and elites with an opportunity for having mutual dialogue and talks.

Modern Islamic Civilization; role of modern Islamic civilization in promoting unity; holy Qur'an and the lifestyle of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and his Household in the creation of modern Islamic civilization; factors behind the ups and downs of modern Islamic Civilization; role of seminaries, universities, research centers and media in the development of modern Islamic Civilization; Identifying barriers to the emergence of Modern Islamic Civilization and the roadmaps for removing with them.
 
Features of Modern Islamic Civilization; Islamic civilization as a strategy to overcome divisions among Muslims; necessities and ways of reviving modern Islamic civilization in the International system of today and other Issues related to the concept of modern Islamic Civilization.

For the past three decades Islamic Republic of Iran has invited seasoned Islamic religious leaders and renowned clerics from all over the globe, providing them with the ground to open dialogue over the standing challenges and setbacks World of Islam wrestles with.

Not only has the Islamic Unity Week ensured that all Muslims come together to celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet (PBUH) over a period of a whole week, it has also provided a shield against those who seek to exploit their own interests by dividing and segregating Muslims into different sects. Sunni and Shia Muslims have resisted such efforts by coming together in these celebrations.
