On 31st passing anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA):

Imam Khomeini (RA), pioneer of Islamic solidarity against dominant powers

by: Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari
Hujjat-ul- Islam Hamid Shahriari, secretary general of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has issued a note on the eve of the 31st passing anniversary of Imam Khomeini (RA) relating on the different aspects of the late leader.
Imam Khomeini (RA), pioneer of Islamic solidarity against dominant powers
Acknowledged on the arrogant morale of the dominant powers and inspired by the holy Qur’an, Imam Khomeini (RA), the greatest contemporary reviver of Islamic values, rose to fight against global hegemonic systems not admitting the least withdrawal from his beliefs and principles.  Having this anti-arrogance morale led to four decades of sustained and influential presence of the Islamic system in the international arenas which foiled the different global plots to undermine or weaken the Islamic Republic system.

In the present world majority of countries are in either of two categories: the dominant or the subordinate.

The dominant system imposes its will on other nations using massive military, economic, media and cultural capacities impeding nations and governments to carry out their policies, in other words, deprives them of liberty and independence in different possible ways.

Imam Khomeini (RA) believed Muslim world should unite and act in solidarity against the dominant system. In his view, world arrogant powers have dominated the oppressed; hence, the world of Islam is responsible to confront the oppressor and defend the oppressed.

In view of Imam Khomeini (RA), the dominant system has aimed to control Muslim world resources and increase its wealth through implicit or explicit looting of Muslim assets not withholding from any warmongering, massacre, murder and looting. Meanwhile, another plot by the enemies of Islam is to wage soft warfare in an effort to persuade the Islamic nation as weak and dependent upon them as well as promoting morale of incapability in the Islamic nation. To hurdle the progress in the world of Islam and hold back Islamic states in scientific arenas are among other measures taken to boost the dominant system.

In view of Imam Khomeini (RA) all Muslim nations should strive to achieve independence and set free from the dominance of oppressive enemies in order to establishing their intended Islamic system. He founded the Islamic Republic system in Iran, a move which lit the light of hope in the hearts of the oppressed people across the globe. Muslim nations found that Islam has the capability to make the foundation for a divine system and confront the oppressors. More than four decades have passed since establishment of this divine system as it has proved its efficiency in confrontation with arrogant governments. Despite all hostilities during the time, it has determinedly maintained its promotion in the path of advancement and justice.

The uprising by Imam Khomeini (RA) has proved Islam as a salvation for contemporary man. As the public embraced this salvation, enemies of Islam struggled to tarnish this great achievement. In this line, they endeavored to prevent the public embracing the reviving school of thought by providing a distorted image of Islam to the west. An instance of these objectives by the dominant powers is masterminding and supporting Daesh in the recent years.
To support governments parallel in fighting world arrogant powers is another key axis in thoughts of Imam Khomeini (RA).

Meanwhile, it should be noted that to distinguish the right from void is not always effortless. It sometimes turns complicated to determine good from better or bad from worse. Also we should not bow to the oppressors within the world of Islam. To bully others is rejected even if from an Islamic country, at the same time, the worse committed by the dominant powers who are in constant pursuit of ruining Muslim world should not go unnoticed. A wise person is he who opts for worse rather than the worst when it comes to choose between either of them.

This is the main message by Imam Khomeini (RA). Islamic rationality demands blessings and kindness to prevail in the Islamic nation as it is the precondition for proximity to the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). He who intends to be a companion of the prophet of Islam should behave kindly to other members of the Islamic nation.

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers, merciful among themselves. (Fath: 29)
The oppressor should also be encouraged to return from his void path and if two Muslim tribes engage in warfare, then both should return to the path of justice but if the oppressor insists in his injustice, then he should be confronted.

And if two factions among the believers should fight, then make settlement between the two. But if one of them oppresses the other, then fight against the one that oppresses until it returns to the ordinance of Allah . And if it returns, then make settlement between them in justice and act justly. Indeed, Allah loves those who act justly. (al Hujurat: 9)

At the same time though the number one enemy who is pursuing toppling both tribes should not be ignored. We should maintain utmost cautious against the main enemy because once he finds the opportunity he would not have mercy on either of Muslim brothers. The prerequisite to company Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) is toughness with the non-believers.

Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah ; and those with him are forceful against the disbelievers. (Fath: 29)

The Almighty God says in holy Qur’an that if you are concerned on intrigues hatched by disbelievers then there is no blame if you shorten your prayer, meaning that there will be no blame in fulfilling your responsibility once it is necessary to confront the non-believers.

And when you travel throughout the land, there is no blame upon you for shortening the prayer, [especially] if you fear that those who disbelieve may disrupt [or attack] you. Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy.

And then counts the apparent hostility of non-believers as the reason for that.

Indeed, the disbelievers are ever to you a clear enemy. (An-Nisa: 101)

Then it commands to be cautious when praying because the disbelievers would make the best of your ignorance to loot you.

And when you are among them and lead them in prayer, let a group of them stand [in prayer] with you and let them carry their arms. And when they have prostrated, let them be [in position] behind you and have the other group come forward which has not [yet] prayed and let them pray with you, taking precaution and carrying their arms. Those who disbelieve wish that you would neglect your weapons and your baggage so they could come down upon you in one [single] attack. But there is no blame upon you, if you are troubled by rain or are ill, for putting down your arms, but take precaution. Indeed, Allah has prepared for the disbelievers a humiliating punishment. (An-Nisa:102)

Sometimes we are allowed to neglect our primary responsibilities in order to carry our most important mission: fighting the disbelievers. It counts as the main responsibility while praying turns as the second or minor mission; hence, the major mission should not be neglected in order to carry out the minor responsibility.

Currently this counts for a key lesson for us. To confront the disbelievers is a main responsibility and settling the issues within the Islamic family equals the minor mission. The minor responsibility should not divert our attention from the major mission. May we witness true unity in the world of Islam and establish the union of Muslims.

May peace and God’s mercy and blessings be upon you.
