Iranian graphic artist Mehdi Fatehi has been awarded at the 2012 edition of the International Poster Triennial held in the Japanese city of Toyama.

Iranian graphic artist Mehdi Fatehi has been awarded at the 2012 edition of the International Poster Triennial held in the Japanese city of Toyama.


Fatehi received the Bronze Medal of the event for his poster Alefpa.

The Grand Prix of the triennial went to Japanese artist Osamu Fukushima while Jianping He from Germany and Ralph Schraivogel of Switzerland won the gold medals of the contest.

Fathi’s works were showcased at the Category A section of the event which is dedicated to printed and published posters.

More than 390 posters by 4,622 artists from 53 countries were selected by the jury panel of the festival to be displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in the city of Toyama.

Supported by Japan Graphic Designers Association (JAGDA), Tokyo Art Directors Club (TOKYO ADC), Tokyo Illustrators Society (TIS), Tokyo Type Directors Club (TDC) and ‘Poster Town Toyama’ Organizing Committee, the 10th International Poster Triennial exhibition kicked off on June 9, 2012 and will run until August.

Many Iranian artists took part in this year’s exhibition, including Mohsen Hazrati, Mahsa Miri, Tahereh Mokhtarzadeh, Mehdi Saeedi and Foad Sharifi who submitted their works to the Category A section of the event along with Fatehi’s posters.

Works by Fariba Boroufa, Rasoul Eskandari, Mohammad Hajhashemi, Elham Hemmat, Mehdi Saeedi, Ali Razmpa and Hamideh Torabi were displayed at the Category B section which featured unpublished works in self-promotion.
