Senior Iranian scholar highlighted importance of stronger interfaith relations between different religions stressing that improving relations between Shia and Sunni scholars will foil intrigues.

Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi met with Ayatollah Aliraza A’rafi, manager of the seminaries on his return from visit to the Vatican and discussed his views on necessity of interfaith dialogues, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Senior jurist in this meeting slammed efforts to sow division among religions and those who pursue distancing different denominations.
 
The cleric referred to diversity of thoughts and ideological disagreements and stresed that meeting between scholars will help settling many differences.
 
Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi called familiarization with Shia thoughts as one of the key achievements by the Iranian delegation to the Vatican and said,” Your trip was particularly important for representing the Shia seminaries and settling the allegations against the Shia community.”
 
Top jurist also underlined importance of boosting relations between Shia and Sunni scholars and vowed that stronger ties between the Islamic denominations will foil intrigues against them.
 
He noted that silence against plots as the reason that intensified disagreements and stressed such interfaith meetings will settle part of these intrigues.
