26 Jun 2022 - 16:21

In a tweet, Iran's Foreign Minister described the meeting with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy as fruitful adding that a final deal is within reach if other parties have the will to do so.

The administration of US President Joe Biden, which has claimed a diplomatic approach to Iran and an attempt to return to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, has so far taken no steps to show its goodwill.

Most of the countries participating in the talks want it to be concluded more quickly, but reaching a final agreement awaits US political decisions on a few remaining key issues.

According to Iran press, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who hosted Josep Borrell, the European Union's foreign policy chief in Tehran, wrote in a tweet on Saturday night: "Fruitful talks on a range of bilateral, regional & int. issues, incl. the latest on the sanctions lifting negotiations.:

He concluded: "A final deal is within reach, if other parties have the will to do so. Iran is resolute on reaching a good, strong & durable deal."

EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell visited the Iranian Foreign Ministry on his first visit to Tehran during the 13th administration before noon on Saturday and spoke with Amir- Abdollahian for nearly four hours.

"We are ready to resume talks in the coming days," the Iranian foreign minister told reporters after the meeting.

"We hope that this time the American side will take responsible and committed actions realistically and fairly in the course of negotiations and reaching the end point of the agreement.", he added.

Borrell also expressed satisfaction with the resumption of talks in the near future, saying that Tehran and Washington have made a decision in this regard.
