Pres. Raisi hails Iran-Turkmenistan deep-rooted ties

In a joint meeting with his Turkmen counterpart, the President said: "Iran's relations with Turkmenistan are not merely neighborly relationships, but are fraternal, civilization-oriented, cultural and kinship relationship and very deep."

He added: "Without a doubt, the presence of the president and the high-ranking delegation of Turkmenistan can be a turning point for relations between the two countries. We had good relations with Turkmenistan in these three decades. And my visit to Ashgabat over the past few months has strengthened some of the cooperation between Iran and Turkmenistan Especially in the field of gas swaps and transportation transit, good steps have been taken
 
The President pointed to the capacity of cooperation between the two countries in more than three decades and said: "There should be a lot of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of economy, trade, water and energy, and agreements and memoranda should be signed between the two countries to promote ties.
 
In a press conference with Ebrahim Raisi, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov  said: "The context and prospects of relations between the two countries were discussed in a joint meeting with their Iranian counterpart, and we want to improve relations between the two countries."

The President of Turkmenistan also said that talks were held on the Caspian Basin, which is of special importance.
He added: "In the negotiations, we also discussed the Caspian Sea, and with great respect, I invited Mr. Raisi to the Caspian Summit to be held in Turkmenistan this year."
The President of Turkmenistan also said: "Afghanistan's issues were also discussed at today's meeting and we want an inclusive government to be formed in Afghanistan."
 
Berdymukhamedov also said in the meeting: "In the meeting and bilateral meeting with the President of Iran, we discussed various issues, in which the development and expansion of trade and economic cooperation and the volume of exchanges were discussed."
He added: "We also discussed cooperation in the field of energy, transportation between Tehran and Ashgabat and agreed to present our efforts in this field. The emphasis of the two countries on expanding relations in the cultural and human fields in order to unite nations is another issue."
