However, their remnants are still operating against civilians and security forces in Iraq and Syria
In the latest movements of the terrorist group elements, they attacked the Ghoyran prison in the province of Al-Hasakah in northeastern Syria, where hundreds of people were killed and wounded during clashes between terrorist elements and SDF forces (US-backed Kurds in Syria).
The ISIS terrorist outfit carried out a large-scale military operation to attack the prison's members from Ghoyran prison late last week and earlier this week, which was met with a backlash from the prison's security forces and Syrian Kurds, during which hundreds of the terrorists were killed and wounded, and ISIL elements were prevented from escaping from the prison.

Russia Today quoted Polyansky as saying in a statement to reporters: “We are deeply concerned about the reports regarding the recent ISIL attacks in northeastern Syria and the general situation in that part of the country,” noting that a meeting had been requested on Thursday.
He added that Moscow requested a separate meeting, during which it is expected to listen to the report of the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, the head of the Organization's Counter-Terrorism Department, Vladimir Voronkov, and other representatives of the United Nations Secretariat on the latest developments in northeastern Syria.
