Shamkhani says contact with US possible in Vienna, when a good agreement is available

In Vienna, direct talks with the US can only happen if a good agreement is reached in Vienna talks, Ali Shamkhani, secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), says.
Shamkhani says contact with US possible in Vienna, when a good agreement is available
"This communication method can only be replaced by other methods when a good agreement is available in Vienna talks," the tweet reads.
The eighth round of talks on the removal of anti-Iranian sanctions resumed on Dec. 27 in the Austrian capital of Vienna. Representatives from China, France, Germany, Russia, Britain, and Iran negotiate in Vienna to bring back the JCPOA on track.
Since the United States had withdrawn from the agreement, Iran decided that its representatives would not be present at the talks and that Iran's agreement with the other JCPOA signatories would be transferred to them through an intermediary so, the United States is involved in the negotiations indirectly.
Shamkhani's remarks seem to confirm precisely the statements made yesterday by Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, who also did not rule out direct talks between Iran and the United States in his speech yesterday.

Amir Abdollahian also considered the code name of GOOD AGREEMENT as a prerequisite for direct talks between Tehran and Washington yesterday.
Iran will consider direct talks with the US during ongoing nuclear negotiations in Vienna if that is required for a "good agreement," the Iranian foreign minister said on Monday(Jan. 25).
