The Iranian Foreign Minister says without paying attention to the issue of refugees and sanctions imposed on Syria, the crisis in this country cannot be directed in the right direction.

During the meeting, the Iranian Foreign Minister hailed the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for contributing to the national dialogue and peace and stability in Syria, and stressed the sincere efforts of the Islamic Republic of Iran for his success in pursuing the process of peace and stability in Syria.
Emphasizing the Islamic Republic of Iran's view on a political solution to the Syrian crisis, Amir-Abdollahian noted that the United Nations has been part of the pursuit of a political solution in Syria since the beginning of the country's developments.
 
The high ranking official further blamed the illegal presence of American forces in Syria, as well as the Israeli attacks on the country, for disrupting the political solution process in Syria, and stressed the need for the attention of the international community and the United Nations.
 
The FM highlighted that the crisis in Syria could not be directed in the right direction, without paying attention to the issue of refugees and sanctions against Syria.
 
The UN Secretary-General's Special Representative for Syria, Geir Pedersen, for his part described the situation in Syria as stable, adding that in the current situation, neither side is talking about regime change in the country.
 
The high ranking diplomat stressed the preservation of national sovereignty, political establishment and territorial integrity of Syria.
