Cleric calls for expansion of academic coop between Iran, Iraqi Kurdistan region

Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought lauded the Kurdish ethnicity as an integrated part of Iranian culture and civilization stressing that the University of Islamic Denominations should boost its academic ties with Iraqi Kurdistan region.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, visited the University of Islamic Denominations in part of his trip to Kurdistan province in western Iran and said the academy has been launched as a bridge between Iranian and Islamic culture and civilization, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He hailed the people in Kurdistan for their loyalty and support for the Islamic Revolution and said,” We owe the opportunity to launch a branch of the University of Islamic Denominations in Kurdistan to the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives to defend the high objectives of the Islamic Revolution.”
 
The cleric praised the peaceful coexistence of the Shia and Sunni communities in Kurdistan and called the Iranian western province as a role model for solidarity among Islamic denominations.
 
“We are hopeful that the University of Islamic Denominations maintains its academic relations with the Iraqi Kurdistan region” said the cleric and expressed hope for expansion of cultural and economic relations at full peace.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari made the comments in a visit to the University of Islamic Denominations in Kurdistan on Wednesday on the first day of his three-day trip to the Iranian western province.
