Foreign worshipers to attend Tehran first Friday prayer following the COVID-19 outbreak

Tehran's Friday prayer is set to reopen after 20 months of COVID-19 restrictions as a number of foreign participants to the 35th International Islamic Unity Conference will attend the ceremony on the fourth day of the annual meeting hosted by World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.

Worshippers in the Iranian capital of Tehran will attend the first Friday prayer as authorities have issued permission for reopening of the weekly ceremony after 20 months of restriction imposed due to the outbreak of Coronavirus, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The weekly ceremony is reopened on the Friday during the Islamic Unity Week which marks the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH).
 
Worshippers are required to observe the health protocols against the pandemic infection including thermal screening, wearing masks and the maintaining social distancing.
 
A group of foreign guests to the 35th International Islamic Unity Week will also attend the ceremony and Sheikh Khalid al Mala, head of Sunni scholars' Assembly from Iraq; will deliver pre-sermon speech.
 
The 35th Islamic Unity Conference is underway in the capital Tehran since October 19 as a limited number of prominent religious and political figures attend the opening and closing ceremony and over 400 Shia and Sunni scholars deliver speech in webinars scheduled during the seven-day event.
