Religious leaders in Baku, Yerevan, Moscow urge for settling tensions in Caucasus

Religious leaders in Russia, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan held meeting in Moscow to stress necessity of settling tensions between Azeri and Armenian people in the Caucasus and Karabakh region.


Patriarch Kirill of Moscow, Catholicos Gargin II, leader of the Gregorian Church in Armenia and Allahshukur Pashazadeh, member of the Management Board of World Islamic Congress discussed the ways for settling tensions in Caucasus region, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Religious leaders in this meeting issued a statement stressing the great pacifist capabilities in their religions particularly in interfaith relations.
 
The top spiritual leaders reiterated that belief in the Almighty God and friendship could heal the wounds caused by years of conflict.
 
They hailed the ethnical, cultural and language diversity in the Caucasus region and noted," The only thing the future has for Armenia and the republic of Azerbaijan nation is peaceful coexistence."
 
The leaders also noted that all efforts must be made to abort hatred and war mongering in the region.
 
The statement concluded as the spiritual leaders of Russia, Armenia and the Republic of Azerbaijan expressed preparation for prevalence of reconciliation and peace in the Caucasus region.
