Palestinian Red Crescent ambulance said 51 people were injured, 12 of them including a Red Crescent volunteer were hit by rubber bullets.

A number of those injured suffered breathing problems as a result of inhaling the tear gas fired by Israeli forces during the Friday protests.

Clashes between anti-settlement protesters and Israeli forces have surged since May as Israeli settlers, protected by Israeli forces, established an outpost on Sobeih Mountain.

Over 600,000 Israeli settlers live in more than 230 settlements illegally built since the 1967 Israeli siege of the West Bank.
