Germany launches website to lodge Islamophobia complaints

7 Jul 2021 - 15:37

Germany has launched the first website for victims of Islamophobia attacks to lodge complaints and report on racist cases against Muslims.

“ireport” is the new website for anti-Muslim hatred reports recently launched in Germany as part of efforts to confront Islamophobia attacks in the European country, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Muslims in Germany have been target of racist behaviors in finding jobs or accommodation.

Assaults and receiving threatening letters in Islamic associations are another instances of racist attacks Muslims and Mosques in Germany face.

The new website is launched for the Muslims targeted by racist attacks to have an opportunity to report on their experiences and lodge their complaints.
A 2020 report by the Federal Ministry of Interior shows 1026 hatred and Islamophobia crimes registered in Germany while the experts at the ministry say the unreported cases exceed those registered.

The reason for underreporting is that some attacks are not classified as Islamophobia or the victims decline to lodge a complaint.

“ireport”  is available for Muslims to report on Islamophobia attacks since June 24. The date is also known as week to confront anti-Muslim racism.
