Iranian Health Ministry has confirmed 11,680 new COVID-19 infections and 161 deaths due to the pandemic infection showing a surge in the number of cases in all provinces across the country.

Health Ministry Spokesperson Sima Lari made the announcement on Sunday, saying that the number of total coronavirus cases in the country has so far reached 1,932,074 with the death toll standing at 63,160.

According to Lari, 4,057 patients are in critical condition while 1,650,569 patients have recovered.

So far more than 13.1 million tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, she added.
