Cleric proposes common Fiq'h for all Islamic denominations

9 Jan 2021 - 15:25

Iranian professor of Islamic Fiq'h has stressed that Islamic knowledge should not be as diverse as the number of Shia and Sunni denominations and proposed that the Fiq'h of Islamic nation should be agreed by all Muslims.

Ayatollah Ahmad Moballeghi, Fiq'h professor at Qom Seminary called unification of Islamic knowledge as an important move which can strengthen the relations between Shia and Sunni communities, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

He defined the unification of Islamic knowledge as the different schools under whose principles a certain Islamic course is taught.

"The fact is that Fiq'h is the same while Fiq'h schools are diverse" noted the cleric and added," debate and agreement on Islamic science has dominated the relations between Shia and Sunni scholars in early days of Islam."

Ayatollah Moballeghi said," The second reason is correspondence meaning that proposal of a notion or a Fiq'h principle is observant on a notion from the other Islamic school, if one denomination rejected that principle the other would not study that at all."

He said," This mutual observation of a Fiq'h principle stands for a scientific unity between the Islamic denominations."

Top Iranian Fiq'h professor stressed importance of founding Fiq'h appropriately and said," Holy Qur'an stresses affection and avoiding distrust among different denominations."

Senior Fiq'h professor at Qom Seminary made the comments in an interview with International Qur'an News Agency (IQNA) warning of not having shared Fiq'h principles and expansion of distrust between Islamic denominations.
