Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, President of Malaysia Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) has expressed concern over sufferings of the children in war zones warning of the critical situation under which Palestinian children live.

Malaysian figure in a note released on Universal Children's Day expressed concern over the grim future of children in war-torn regions naming Syria, Yemen, Myanmar, Iraq, Kashmir, Afghanistan and Palestine calling for more measures in line with protecting the minors in these countries, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Mohd Azmi in his note wrote, "Currently, at least 400 Palestinian children under 18 years old have been arrested by Israeli occupation authorities since the beginning of the year, according to the Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PSS)."
 
He warned of the different violations against Palestinian children during their detention and named preventing continuation of their education, depriving them of visiting their families and isolating them in solitary cells among other violations by Israel.

 
He also warned of torture and long sentences issued for Palestinian children in the Israeli prisons and said," Israeli security forces have used unnecessary force to arrest or detain Palestinian children as young as 11" and slammed Israel as the only regime in the world to prosecute children routinely in military courts that lack basic safeguards for a fair trial.

Mohd Azmi rebuked Tel Aviv regime for legitimization of systematic torture and abuse of Palestinian children.


"We call on the international human rights institutions to take action and put pressure on Israel to end its abuse of Palestinian children" he said.
 
President of major Islamic council in Malaysia also voiced anger over inaction of the world bodies against the sufferings of children in conflict zones saying, "Killing of children in Syria, Yemen, Myanmar, Iraq, Kashmir, Libya and Afghanistan are recorded atrocities and yet nothing is done to protect them."
 
He added," The declaration of International Children's Day is mere rhetoric while the future of vulnerable children will continue to be bleak."

Mohd Azmi Abdul Hamid, President of Malaysia Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) issued the letter in conjunction with International Children's Day and called on the international community to stop the abuse and killing of children in conflict zones.
