Malaysian ex-PM criticizes infighting, discrimination in Muslim world

Mahatir Mohamad, Malaysia's former Prime Minister criticized the infighting and discrimination in the world of Islam expressing his views on the present issues of Muslim world at the opening ceremony of the 34th Islamic Unity Conference which is held virtually due to coronavirus circumstances.

Ex-prime minister called on Muslims to look at the root cause of all disasters in the world of Islam and ponder if they are in fact following the teachings of the holy religion, Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
Top official expressed concern over the present Muslim world "in shambles" and the enemies saying," We are doing everything we can to destroy each other and they are glad to supply us with the means to destroy ourselves."
 
According to the prominent Malaysian elite the first thing Muslims need to do is to ask themselves whether they do in fact follow the teachings of Islam.
"Our religion also tells us to regard each other as brothers and to be tolerant of some differences in the practices of our religion" he said and added, "We are fighting each other often fulfilling the work of our enemies."
 
He criticized Muslims over being intolerant about each other and discriminates even within the Muslim community.
Ex-official also touched upon the Islamic traditions which have come to help with containing the pandemic among them cleanness and the way to take ablution.
 
He stressed that the wealth of Muslims is such that no Muslim should be hungry in this world.
 
"It is also time for us to put a stop to our infightings of Muslims killing fellow Muslims" said the Malaysian thinker and said,"There is no justification whatsoever as Allah abhors those who kill their Muslim brothers."
 
He concluded that,"If we are to admit our failures to adhere to the true teachings of our religion and so return to the Qur'an."
 
Senior Malaysian thinker made the comments in the opening ceremony of the 34th Islamic Unity Conference which is held online during the Islamic Unity Week.
 
World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has scheduled to hold the annual event virtually due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
 
34th Islamic Unity Conference is held on October 29th-November 3rd, 2020 as prominent Muslim figures are expected to deliver speech on "Islamic Cooperation in Face of Calamities and Disasters."
