34th Islamic Unity Conference kicks off in virtual inauguration
The opening ceremony of 34th Islamic Unity Conference has officially kicked off in online event on Thursday as several Muslim elites and religious figures from different countries are expected to deliver speech on "Islamic Cooperation in Face of Calamities and Disasters."

Hujjat-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari, Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought referred to the different sections of the 34th Islamic Unity Conference including 167 speeches, the greatest number since beginning of Islamic Unity Conference, to be delivered by Muslim elites from across the globe as part of the speeches will be on "Islamic Cooperation in Face of Calamities and Disasters."
"Treachery of the west to objectives of Palestine" is the third axis of activities for the 34th Islamic Unity Conference and the role of Iran's IRGC assassinated commander Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani was counted as the fourth section for the online event.
The cleric referred to ceremony to unveil two books on Palestine and comparative Fiq'h as the fifth part of the 34th Islamic Unity Conference and also unveiling of the site WikiVahdat on Islamic countries and the content related to Islamic proximity and solidarity of Muslims.
The seventh and final section of the event, according to the cleric is a quartet meeting of elites and experts.
He warned of endeavors by enemies of Islam and world arrogant powers sparing no effort to spark war in the world of Islam referring to the normalization of ties with Israel as the latest instance of these efforts.
He called Islamic Unity Week as an opportunity for world Muslims to stress their fraternal ties, peace, cooperation, compassion and mutual respect and also rational dialogue.
"We are in pursuit of forming a new discussion to avoid fighting, conflicts, prejudices, extremism and desecration of religions and reveal the plots by enemies" said the cleric in another part of his speech at the opening ceremony.
Hujjet-ul-Islam Hamid Shahriari expressed hope that the outcome of the 34th Islamic Unity Conference for Muslims and freedom-seekers across the globe is avoiding conflicts and clashes and eventually prevalence of peace and tranquility.
He expressed regret over loss of prominent figures since last conference, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and assassinated commander of Quds Force, Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani among many others.
34th Islamic Unity Conference has opened its work on Thursday October 29th and will continue to November 3rd.
World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought has scheduled to hold the 34th Islamic Unity Conference in a 6-day online event due to the new coronavirus outbreak. More than 167 speakers from 47 countries will deliver speech on "Islamic Cooperation in Face of Calamities and Disasters."
The event is scheduled to be held on October 29th- November 3rd concurrent with Islamic Unity Week as named after an inspiration by the late founder of Islamic revolution Ayatollah Khomeini.
The annual event has been held since 1987 and the 34th meeting is the first one held virtually due to the new coronavirus pandemic.
