Lebanese Bishop lauds Imam Hussein for anti-oppression stance

Imam Hussein(AS), based on his beliefs, chose martyrdom in order not to submit against oppression.


George Saliba, prominent Lebanese bishop in Jabal Amel and Tripoli has issued a note on Ashura, martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to praise the Imam Hussein (AS) as a person with clear mindset  who is not stopped in his way, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said, ”Imam Hussein (AS) learnt from his familu, community and his immediate environment to become one of the chosen people who rose against oppression.”
 
Christian scholar quoted Imam Hussein saying, ”This is a wise attitude that when death is inevitable, one should not die fearful.”
 
“Imam Hussein (AS) is standing in the heart of history” said the bishop of Tripoli and said,” As a person raised with much respect for loyalty, Imam Hussein (AS) preferred death to life.”
 
George Saliba made the comments on the eve of Ashura and martyrdom anniversary of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) who was martyred along with 72 of his companions and family members in the Battle of Karbala back in 680 AD.
