Assembly of Jaafari scholars in Afghanistan have expressed sympathy following passing of senior Iranian cleric and advisor of the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri and praised the top Shia scholar as epitome of patience and ethics.

Afghan scholars in the condolence message expressed regret over the recent demise of Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought and lauded the late scholar as harbinger of Islamic proximity in the world of Islam, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
The condolence message by Afghanistan Assembly of Jaafari scholars addressed the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, proximity figures in Iran and seminaries.
 
Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, aged 76, passed away due to heart disease in a hospital in Tehran following more than five decades of efforts to promote solidarity among different Islamic denominations.
 
The cleric had served in different religious and political positions though his struggles for Muslim unity had set him in a particular stance in the world of Islam.
