Archbishop of Georgia, Illi II has released a condolence message to the Iranian nation and government expressing sympathy over passing of senior Iranian cleric and leading proximity figure, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri.

Illia II, Catholicos-Patriarch of Georgia, in his condolence message expressed deep regret over demist of the advisor of Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs,  member of the Assembly of Experts and former secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to his visit to Iran and hailed the late scholar for his kindness and hospitality and said," He took charge
of holding a feast for visiting Georgian delegation and demanded that the meal prayer should be said by the visiting patriarch a landmark not only in Iran-Georgia history but in the history of Islam-Christianity relations."
 
The spiritual leader of the Georgian Orthodox Church stressed, "People like Ayatollah Taskhiri can change the world and tear down the wall of hostility between nations."
 
Illia II expressed condolences with the Iranian nation, government and family of late Ayatollah Taskhiri.
 
Advisor of the Supreme Leader in Muslim world affairs, Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Taskhiri, aged 76, passed away due to heart disease in Tehran. He had spent more than five decades in promoting Islamic teachings and proximity of different denominations.

The late scholar had also served in several political and religious positions including secretary general of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought.
