18th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture 2020 will be held virtually, for the first time, due to the coronavirus pandemic as the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres will deliver speech in the live event from New York, Taqrib News Agency (TNA) has quoted the Nelson Mandela Foundation as saying.

UN Secretary General will deliver his speech on “Tacking the Inequality Pandemic: A New Social Contract for a New Era” at the UN headquarter in New York on Saturday 18th July, 2020.

The annual event invites prominent figures to debate on significant social issues as part of efforts to encourage people into dialogue and address the present challenges.

Former US President Barack Obama, former UN secretary general Kofi Anan and former Irish president and philanthropist Mary Robinson are among the many prominent figures who delivered speech in previous Nelson Mandela Annual Lectures.

The speaker at 17th Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture was given by South Africa’s chief justice Mogoeng Mogoeng on “Constitutionalism as an Instrument for Transformation.”
