“Iran’s Islamic Revolution awakened world Muslims”, Sunni cleric

Mamusta Mostafa Mahmoudi, Friday prayer leader of the Sunni community in Piranshahr, Iran’s West Azerbaijan Province, in an interview with Taqrib News Agency (TNA) related on the achievements of Islamic Republic of Iran in post-revolution era calling the popular uprising as a great change both for Iran and the world of Islam.

He said,” Islamic Revolution of Iran awakened Muslims and the oppressed people across the globe with shaking the basis of domineering powers.”

The cleric hailed the 1979 revolution for establishment of religious government and its determination since then.

Mamusta Mahmoudi noted,” We are blessed with an independent religious state with enough capabilities to defend the oppressed people” and added,” We are also blessed with full liberty within the framework of constitution.”

Iranian Sunni scholar expressed regret that the minorities, ethnicities and religious figures were undervalued during former regime of Pahlavi particularly lack of freedom of speech for the Sunni scholars as well as the economic issues harassing the people in the Sunni-populated Kurdistan region in Iran.

Prayer leader of PIranshahr hailed the Islamic Revolution for unifying the Shia and Sunni people lauding the present era as unique in regards to solidarity of the different denominations in Iran.
