“Resistance against oppression, prime message of Ashura”, Sunni cleric

Prominent Sunni cleric highlighted loyalty of the Iranian minority Muslims for Ahlul Bayt (AS) saying that resistance against oppression is the major message of Ashura.

Akhoond Abdul Jalil Farahmand, coordinator at Sunni seminary in Iran’s Golestan Province stressed the necessity of loyalty to Ahlul Bayt (AS) as recommended by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) and underlined the messages brought by martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He referred to the Sunni major references recommending pilgrimage of the third Shia Imam in Karbala stressing that Imam Hussein (AS) belongs to all Islamic schools of thought and not a particular denomination.
 
“The major lesson of Ashura is resistance against oppression” said the cleric and added,” He who does not bully others but submits to oppression is assimilated to an enemy of Qur’an and Ahlul Bayt (AS)”
 
The Iranian cleric noted that the uprising of Imam Hussein (AS) was not a legend but a reality to teach world people, Muslims and non-Muslims lessons of liberality and honor.
 
Prayer leader of the Sunni community in Golestan Province referred to the grand march of Arba’een an lauded that as a manifestation of unity among Muslims from all denominations attending the annual ceremony.
 
He concluded that the objective behind pilgrimage of Ahlul Bayt (AS) is to learn the lesson of liberality and not submission to oppression.
