Al-Wefaq National Islamic Society, largest opposition group in Bahrain, has slammed Al-Kalifa regime for forcing Shia citizens from praying at the site of destroyed mosques threatening them with punishments if the gatherings continue, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

According to the group a number of citizens were forced to give warranty on not saying prayers at destroyed mosques as the move will hurt the Al-Kalifa regime since the regime is trying to cover the oppressions, crackdown and crimes committed by Manama regime.

Prominent Bahraini opposition group stressed,” Regime, in doing so, intends to prevent demands for reconstruction of mosques it had destroyed in 2011, 10 of which still in debris.”

Dozens of Shia mosques and hussainiyas were destroyed by Al Kalifa regime during the 2011 uprisings in the country as part of widespread crackdown of the religious minority.

Bahraini regime again razed to the ground the reconstructed Shia mosques in 2018 in line with its policy of crackdown of the dissidents in the Persian Gulf state.
