Ayat Peyman, secretary general of World Shia Studies Assembly in Iran has sent a letter to the Iranian Foreign Ministry demanding legal actions into freedom of Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky expressing concerns over the deteriorating situation of the Nigerian Shia leader in jail since December 2015, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Iranian figure in his letter referred to the Nigerian government under control by extremist and violent Wahhabism and receiving its anti-Shia guidelines from Saudi Arabia.

He slammed the brutal and inhumane attack against Shia attending a mourning gatherin in Nigeria leading to death of several mourners and arrest of the Nigerian key Shia figure Sheikh Ibrahim al-Zakzaky.

Ayat Peyman in his letter expressed concern over the deteriorating health situation of the 66-year-old Nigerian leader who lost his left eye in the 2016 brutal attack of the police and has been subject to torture in jail since then.

“This is while the media and human rights claimants in the west who create global tumult over minor issues are silent over the impending death of a key figure” read part of the letter as the secretary general of Shia Studies Assembly urged Iranian officials for immediate action into the critical situation challenging Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky.
