Supreme Leader’s fatwa, landmark in history of comparative Fiq’h
Hamed Rostami Najafabadi, member of the academic boards of Fiq’h and law at the University of Islamic Denominations (UID) attended the weekly proximity-oriented debate in Taqrib News Agency (TNA) headquarter to detail his views on the concept and history of Islamic proximity.

He said,” Proximity, in a general view, equals a movement for bringing Islamic denominations closer together, a new demand of the contemporary era.”

He referred to endeavor by scholars and intellectuals in the world of Islam to settle the disagreements between the Shia and Sunni communities naming Imam Mousa al-Sadr (1928-1978) and Allameh Taqii Qomi (1912-2007).

The legal representative of the University of Islamic Denominations hailed prominent Seyyed Jamal Eddin Asadabadi as pioneer of Islamic proximity winning the support of Islamic countries.

He counted Wahhabism, prejudice and deviate movements as hurdles for proximity leading the ideology into stagnation before it was revived in an inspiration by the Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution to launch World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought in 1990.

Hamed Rostami Najafabadi hailed the fatwa issued by Supreme Leader banning desecration of Sunni sanctities as a turning point in comparative Fiq’h.

He also highlighted the capabilities of different academic seats at the University of Islamic Denominations in boosting solidarity among Muslims.

“We should build active interaction among pacifist and intellectual figures in our country” he said and added,” Once we unify the Muslim thinkers across the globe over guidelines of the Supreme Leader we can claim having taken an efficient step in line with boosting unity and fraternity.”
