Cleric hails Islamic esteem for women

Prominent Shia cleric met with a group of women activists on the wake of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Fatemeh (SA), daughter of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), stressing the high esteem Islam maintains for women.


Ayatollah Seyyed Mostafa Mousavi Esfahani, stressed the high status of women in view of Islam rejecting those objecting freedom for women, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He called Muslim women to follow the role model of Hazrat Zahra (AS) and counted modesty and chastity as Islamic values to be maintained by women in view of Isalm.
 
Ayatollah Mousavi Esfahani also highlighted the rights of Muslim women to study and have descent jobs and said,” To have active Muslim women who can fulfill their demands is an honor for the Islamic society.”
 
Representative of Hamedan in Iran’s Parliament noted,” In response to those who oppose freedom and social activities for women I should remind them that no other religion has ranked women in a higher status that that of Islam.”
 
Top cleric made the remarks in a meeting with women activists made on the wake of the birth anniversary of Hazrat Zahra (AS), dubbed as Mothers’ Day in Iran.
