University of Pretoria calls for cooperation with Iran’s Islamic academy

Maniraj Sukdaven, president of the faculty of Theology and Religion at the University of Pretoria met with Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hussein Mokhtari, president of Iran’s University of Islamic Denominations officially proposing mutual cooperation with Iranian Islamic academy, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Iranian cleric in this meeting related on the University of Islamic Denominations (UID) and the international activities of the academy announcing its preparation for mutual cooperation with the University of Pretoria.
 
African professor also attended the summit on “Islamic Studies in Africa” following the meeting with Hujjat-ul-Islam Mokhtari.
 
Maniraj Sukdaven gave a summary of religions in Africa, entrance of Christianity to the continent and the reaction it received saying,” When Christianity was introduced to Africans, they were following their traditional beliefs but when Islam entered into the continent, it found a home among the people because of its similarity with many African beliefs.”
 
He referred to the religious diversity in Africa and the commonalities of primitive and Abrahamic religions including Islam and Christianity.
 
Maniraj Sukdaven made the remarks in a summit on the sideline of a meeting with Hujjat-ul-Islam Mohammad Hussein Mokhtari to submit a proposal for academic cooperation between the faculty of Theology and Religions in South Africa and Iran’s University of Islamic Denominations.
