Shiaology workshop held in Germany
Ayatollah Ahmad Moballeghi, prominent professor at Qom Seminary, has held the third Shiaology workshop in the specialized Shia library of Allameh Abdul Javad Falatouri at University of Cologne discussing Islamic religious statement, Fatwa, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

Attended by 16 German researchers, Iranian cleric in this meeting related on the definition of fatwa, its component parts, process of issuing a fatwa as well as the different types and its social categorization.

Part of the discussion by member of Iran’s Assembly of Experts was on fatwa as a religious announcement carrying a Sharia verdict for a particular issue whose announcement should be practically carried out.

Ayatollah Moballeghi in another part of his remarks noted that merely coming to a decision on an issue without public announcement does not translate to a fatwa; hence, public announcement would make it recognized as a fatwa.

It is also necessary that the religious statement is announced for the people to follow that; therefore, a fatwa is not uttered merely to announce a viewpoint but rather to be followed in practice.

The one-day workshop on Shiaology held by Iranian scholar Ayatollah Ahmad Moballeghi has been the third of similar specialized meetings on Shia Islam after the second workshop in October 2018 on “Islamic Sciences, Ethics and Arts in Shia World: the Case of Medina.”
