Prominent Bahraini cleric said Al Kalifa rejection to allow UN special envoys is proof for accuracy of reports regarding violation of human rights for prisoners.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Abbas Shubbar, head of religious freedom unity with Salam for Democracy and Human Rights (DHR) called on Manama to allow UN special investigators to observe the situation of Bahraini prisoners, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Al Kalifa has proved accuracy of reports on torture of inmates by continuing to reject UN special investigators to the dissent prisons.”
 
Bahraini human rights activist added,” Manama all-out efforts to purify the image of prisons in the country has not cleared the notorious background of their detention centers.”
 
He named Bahraini human rights activist Nabeel Rajab as a living case who has witnessed physical and mental torture of the dissent in jails.
 
Hujjat-ul-Islam Shubbar stressed,” This is while Manama has rejected the permission to rapporteur for United Nations Commission on Human Rights (OHCHR) to visit Bahraini prisons since 2011.
 
SALAM for Democracy and Human Rights (SALAM DHR) is an NGO that endeavours to preserve universal principles of dignity and respect by shielding democracy and human rights.
