Iranian cultural official has met with Indian figure warning of deep misunderstanding between religions and stressed the pacifist nature of Islam.

Abouzar Torkaman, head of Iran’s Organization of Culture and Islamic Relations, met with Vinay Sahasrabuddhe, President of Indian Council for Cultural Relations hailing Islam as a religion at peace with all religions warning of deep misunderstanding among religions, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Islam is at peace with all religions though it has turned into a pretext for violence.”
 
He also proposed launching a cultural committee as affiliate to joint economic committee in order to provide study opportunities stressing necessity of expanding cultural cooperation between Tehran and New Delhi.
 
Iranian cultural figure referred to initiation of Iran to launch interfaith dialogue between Islam and Hinduism and announced an upcoming conference to be held in the Iranian capital in early 2019.
 
Vinay Sahasrabuddhe praised the global attention to Islam as an ideological system and said,” The version of Islam followed in Iran is a developed one which is globally respected and maintains view on future.”
