Top cleric criticized global media boycott of Arba’een ceremony calling the major Islamic convention as a movement beyond religious differences.

Hujjat-ul-Islam Seyyed Mofid Husseini Kouhsari, at communications and international department of seminaries, said the global media coverage of Arba’een ceremony is due to power of the major gathering to prove Islam as a highly civilized religion and hailed the ceremony to go beyond religious differences to welcome people from different ideologies, reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).
 
He said,” Arba’een, within a two-week period, proves Islam as a religion of civilization, a fact which has deeply concerned enemies of Islam.”
 
Manager of Hawza News called participation of almost 25 million pilgrims in Arba’een ceremony as a movement beyond religions and denominations and stressed the massive convention as a manifestation of Islamic arts and civilization.”
 
The cleric warned of efforts to divide Arba’een pilgrims demanding participants in the ceremony to wisely manage any possible issue.
 
On the eve of Arba’een ceremony, anniversary for 40th day after martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS), third Shia Imam and grandson of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), millions of Muslims are heading to the holy city of Karbala.
 
The ceremony commemorates the uprising and martyrdom of Imam Hussein (AS) and 72 of his household members and loyal companions against the tyrant ruler of the time, Yazid ibn Muawiyah in the Battle of Karbala in 680 AD.
